FINALLY! The first volume of natural history illustrations accompanied by texts in English and te reo Māori. Sales from this issue will help towards the translation cost of all texts and future publications in the TAUHOU series.

TAUHOU - Refreshed information & contemporary natural history illustrations of plants, animals & ecosystems - the biological diversity - of Aotearoa, New Zealand.

TAUHOU, #1, is a voluminous sample of the type of work described above featuring 27 illustrations, 8 photographs and over 50 species with texts in te reo Māori and English. The artwork was first exhibited in 2017 at Plants and People - In Direction, at Studio One Toi Tū, July 19 - August 10 and New Works, Whitespace Contemporary, October 4 - 21, which included the first public presentation of this text. This is the first time this work has been made available to take home as a series.

This first batch is printed at A3 on Munken Print Cream 80GSM and the cover is printed on Munken Pure, Cream 300GSM. Papers have been supplied by Spicers. Each cover was printed at Inky Palms by Chris 'Chippy' Hutchinson. Each book in edition has been hand numbered, signed and hand-finished by the artist. This means some covers are smudgy and others have multiple staple holes where numerous attempts were made to attach the covers.

Paper and print has been supplied by a copier tester, reducing needless print and paper waste.

Dedicated to Pōro iti.
